Excess Inventory
Fleet operators cannot afford the cost incurred from excess parts. It diminishes the return on investment in inventory – money that could be invested in parts needed to support mission readiness. Having too much of the wrong part also compromises an operator’s ability to maintain mission and fleet sustainment. Derco understands the detrimental affect excess inventory can have on budgets and mission readiness. Derco offers a number of excess inventory management solutions based on its experience managing supply chains, close relationships it maintains with part and component manufacturers, and its robust forecasting and material planning tools.
Obsolescence must not compromise aircraft availability. Derco’s inventory management approach ensures obsolescence is managed as an integral part of design, development, production, and logistics planning and management. Derco’s approach is a function drawing on material management and engineering support. Derco continuously communicates with OEMs to monitor issues concerning configuration control, service bulletins, and other issues arising from the field.
Derco uses sophisticated forecasting, measurement, and planning tools to ensure inventory levels achieve optimal turn levels based on MTBF data, forecast flight hours, and transaction costs.
The Derco obsolescence management strategy:
•
Ensures all parts and components meet the most current configuration standards and are compatible with all customer legacy systems
•
Minimizes customer cost of ownership through effective supply chain management and material planning
•
Anticipates and advises operators of any upcoming design changes, which might create an obsolescence situation
•
Reduces performance degradation by ensuring the properly configured part/ component is maintained to all current technical publications
